Radio to Cheer for Children during the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

Written by on 5 February 2026

Radio will play an important role in amplifying messages on children’s rights during the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, as part of UNICEF’s #CheerForChildren campaign.

This was shared during a media briefing organised by UNICEF in New Delhi on 4 February 2026, which brought together more than 30 media professionals from print, digital media, television, and radio.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be held from 7 February to 8 March 2026 across India and Sri Lanka. Through its partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC), UNICEF aims to use the reach and energy of the tournament to highlight children’s rights, gender equality, and the importance of play in every child’s life.

Radio stations including Radio Orange, BIG FM, Red FM, and All India Radio participated in the briefing and discussed how radio can help carry the message of #CheerForChildren to communities across the country.

As a medium with deep reach and strong local connect, radio will help take messages on children’s rights to the last mile, reaching families in both urban and rural areas. Through on-air conversations, stories, and programming, radio will support the amplification of UNICEF’s messages throughout the World Cup.

During the tournament, UNICEF and the ICC will spotlight children through key moments such as Cricket4Good clinics, Captain’s Day, trophy walkouts with children, roundtable discussions, and interactions between children and players.

The briefing also highlighted nearly a decade of collaboration between UNICEF and the ICC under the Cricket for Good initiative, which uses the power of cricket to support children, especially girls and those from vulnerable communities.

As the country prepares to cheer for cricket, radio will help ensure that the voices and rights of children remain part of the conversation.
