Background

Radio4Child platform was created in 2014 to encourage radio professionals from public, private and community radio broadcasters across India to come up with innovative and thought-provoking programming on child and maternal health.

Since then, Radio4Child, in partnership with Association of Radio Operators for India (AROI), UNICEF, SSDS and All India Radio, has been conducting capacity-building workshops for radio professionals to help them integrate meaningful, appealing radio jingles or talk shows on the critical messages related to child health and vaccination.

Radio4Child Awards – Season 3 (2019)

The Awards ceremony for the third edition was held in Mumbai and was graced by UNICEF Celebrity Advocate Ms Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Radio4Child platform and the pandemic

Three months after the WHO declared COVID-19 as a pandemic, the Radio4Child platform, has continuously engaged radio in India as a key stakeholder for COVID-19 prevention and mitigation. It has engaged with over 2,000 RJs and programming heads from all over India through capacity building workshops/sessions and one-on-one communication to sensitize and encouraged them to produce programmes around the COVID-19 and vaccination and related issues like stigma and discrimination, Black Fungus, Jan Aandolan campaign for COVID Appropriate Behaviour, children’s education, nutrition, mental health issues during the pandemic, Routine Immunization and Intensified Mission Indradhanush, special government programmes like ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ during the various phases of the pandemic.

Felicitation of RJs through Radio4Child platform – May 2022

On 6-7 May 2022, Radio4Child organized a two-day workshop and felicitation event for RJs, radio announcers and Programming Heads from across India to acknowledge the initiative and work done by the radio professionals during the pandemic, and consistently engaged with the Radio4Child platform.

UNICEF Celebrity Supporter and Grammy Award Winner, Ricky Key was the Celebrity Guest and felicitated the RJs as part of the felicitation ceremony in Mumbai.

Radio4Child goes Northeast

In October 2022, – the Northeast Chapter of the Radio4Child platform was launched, to encourage radio professionals in the region to create innovative messaging on children and women’s issues.
