She is addressing the Moon, who, according to traditional Bengali folklore, is personified as the maternal uncle of the Bengali children. “Aay Aay Chand Mama ti diye ja” is a traditional Bengali rhyme where Uncle Moon is requested to protect the child from evil eyes by giving a mark of black kohl. The jingle then relates the concept of protection to the routine immunization. It describes the does and don'ts related to vaccination, aware the listeners about Polio, Rubella, Measles, Hepatitis and other diseases which can be avoided by routine immunization. The Jingle ends with addressing the parents not to waste any time and take their children to the vaccination centre.Translation: Come, come, Uncle Moon give the black mark, And protect my child from evil and dark.
