Parents may forget the time interval for each vaccination. But the immunization health card reminds them of it. The vaccination schedule of every child is recorded on the health card. Important among the cards is Mother and Child Protection Card. It has the list of all vaccines a child should receive before he/she completes 18 years. When a child is vaccinated, the date and details are entered in the card at the same time. The due date of next vaccination is also mentioned in the card. Through the card, the parents and health care workers can ensure that the child receives all the vaccinations at the right time. It’s a multicoloured book which is provided for each state in its own language. If a woman is found to be pregnant in any area JPHN workers provide this card to mothers, as a part of their field work. Do you know that this card clearly and simply states which vaccines should be given to the baby at which age. There are special fields for recording the date of last vaccination and date in which they have to reach for next vaccination. All I have to say is every pregnant woman and mothers should thoroughly go through mother child protection card as it has valuable knowledge and suggestions about the protection and care of mother and child.
